1544
Henry VIII sold Addington Park Estate and manor house to Sir Nicholas Leigh, the original Medieval Manor House in Addington Village became the Leigh family residence for 200 years
1740
The Estate and manor House of Leigh family become the subject of a 40 year legal battle for ownership
1770
Barlow Trecothick, Alderman of London and Lord Mayor in 1770-71, purchases house and land. Trecothick employs Robert Mylne to design and build a grand Palladian mansion
1775
Barlow Trecothick dies
1778
Palladian Mansion completed by Trecothick’s nephew James Trecothick
1780-82
James Trecothick employs Capability Brown for extensive landscape works
1800
Brick kitchen built by James Trecothick possibly on the site of the present Dance Studio
1803
House abandoned by James and bought by Thomas Cole, who died in 1805
1807
Act of Parliament passed allowing purchase and upgrading of the house for the Archbishops of Canterbury as a country residence. The former archbishop’s palace was sold to raise the money and 5 of the former archbishops are buried in St’ Mary’s churchyard

Richard Norman Shaw and William Gilmour Wilson employed as architects, extra floor added by Wilson and remodelled interior by Norman Shaw

Substantial part of estate sold to Addington Golf Club
1914
Vacant house was used by the Red Cross
1928
Addiscombe Garden Estates purchases the remaining estate, formed Addington Palace Golf Club and used the main building as a hotel
1930
South Eastern area of estate sold to Local authorities who turned it into a public park
1951
Local authorities purchase remaining estate and lease to Addington Palace Golf Club
1953
Local authorities Lease main building to the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM)
1996
Private company took it over for development as a wedding, conference and banqueting venue, health farm and country club
2002
Banquet for HM The Queen and HRH Prince Philip during the Golden Jubilee Celebrations
