The Couple’s Bewitching Entrance

Damjan, a renowned surgeon with little time to spare due to his demanding schedule, and Audrey, who is currently navigating the transition from English Literature graduate to medical student, made their grand entrance in costumes that set the tone for the evening.

Damjan was the epitome of gothic elegance, channelling a vampire count in a sleek black velvet cape, complete with blood-red embroidery and a silver-tipped cane. Audrey, his beautiful bride-to-be, was an ethereal vision in a gothic Victorian-inspired gown, with cascading lace and a crown of dark roses atop her softly curled hair, blending elements of romance and eerie grace.

Costumes that Captivated

Their entrance was like a scene from a timeless gothic novel , and from the very start, it was clear that this engagement party would be a night where fantasy and reality collided.

The guests took the couple’s Halloween theme to heart, showing up in costumes that were both weird and wonderful. From classic Hollywood horror to avant-garde takes on Halloween traditions, the variety was astonishing.

Even more playful costumes dotted the room, think a ghostly Marie Antoinette, a skeletal pirate queen, a Clown and a Joker. Each guest’s outfit was an homage to creativity and fun, proving that Halloween isn’t just about scares, but about expression and fantasy.

Food: A Feast of the Macabre

The culinary delights of the evening were a true masterpiece, thanks to the artistic hands of Damjan’s mother and soon to be mother-in-law, who outdid themselves in both presentation and taste. Each dish was a work of edible art, perfect for the season.

But perhaps the pièce de résistance was the ghostly cake – a white buttercream confection adorned with delicate sugar apples, with marbled layers inside to reflect the aesthetic of the evening. Every bite was a celebration of the eerie and the elegant.

The Music that Charmed the Night

No event is complete without music, and the Mav Duo did not disappoint. Their selection of Halloween-inspired tunes was both unexpected and brilliant, blending everything from eerie classical arrangements to hauntingly beautiful contemporary pieces. At one point, the room was enchanted by their acoustic rendition of “Thriller,” which had everyone dancing, arms raised, like stylish zombies.

The music transitioned seamlessly into more energetic beats later in the night, provided by DJ Luis, as they guided the guests through a setlist that had everyone dancing their hearts out. It wasn’t long before the wooden floor beneath the grand chandelier were filled with laughter, movement, and a sense of absolute joy.

Décor: A Gothic Wonderland

The Palace was transformed into a Gothic wonderland, with Halloween-inspired décor adorning every inch of the space. The phenomenal marble fireplace served as the centrepiece, draped in cobwebs, and flickering (LED) candles that created a warm, almost mystical glow. Skulls, bats and  pumpkins added an extra touch of haunting charm to the room, while cobwebbed chandeliers twinkled above, casting playful shadows.

Outside, the gardens were lit with hundreds of jack-o’-lanterns, each carved with intricate designs, from grinning faces to elaborate gothic cathedrals. The bar, provided by Chillspace and the barman courtesy of Iceman services, offered custom cocktails with playful Halloween twists – from “Witch’s Brew” with dry ice fog pouring over the glass, to “Vampire’s Kiss,” a pomegranate cocktail garnished with a sugared rim.

Dancing Under the Stars

As the evening wore on, the dance floor became the heart of the celebration. DJ Luis knew exactly how to keep the energy alive, and by the time their set turned to more modern hits, everyone was swept up in the rhythm. There was no formality, no hesitation, just pure, unfiltered fun. Even Damjan, despite his busy schedule, found time to let loose with Audrey, spinning her across the dance floor!

By the end of the night, it felt as though everyone had stepped into a gothic fairytale. Between the stunning costumes, the mouth-watering food, and the joyous atmosphere, the celebration was a perfect reflection of the couple themselves: sophisticated, playful, and deeply in love.
