The History
This rooms architecture has roots in Neoclassicism, which gave rise to a Design Movement in the 1800’s called the “Empire Style”. This can be seen in the rooms intricate paneling and cornicing. Of particular note, are the hand painted panels above each door. Each of these contain four winged children and a woman. The children are likely to represent Cupid and the woman Venus.
